What will the effects be?

The planning application has been examined and the following are considered to be the major effects:

Traffic Congestion. It would appear that there will be in the order of 200 to 300 lorry movements daily, mainly HGVs, to and from the proposed plant. Many will use the Worcester southern ring road which is already heavily congested. This would cause utter chaos, not only at peak times.

HGV movements from 6am to 11pm. The applicant has asked to operate from 6am to 11pm seven days a week for 52 weeks of the year. This will destroy local communities.

Air pollution. The applicant intends to merely extract the dust and other airborne particles into the air and hence onto the local communities.

Traffic accidents. The junction of the B4084 with Woodbury Lane is a dangerous location and known locally as an accident black spot. The intention to have hundreds more vehicle movement every day into and out of this is junction is considered to be a fatal accident waiting to happen. Are you willing to take that risk?

Health risks. The waste to be recycled will generally be several weeks old and will contain bacteria which will become airborne in the sorting process. This will be merely extracted from the building into the local communities. There is a nursing home 250 metres away and a primary school about one kilometre away. This is a health risk, particularly to the most vulnerable people in our society.

• Unsuitable Roads. Worcestershire County Council previously “de-trunked” the A44 from junction 7 of the M5, to become the B4084. This was to avoid the use by HGVs because it is unsuitable. The road from junction 6 towards Pershore was upgraded to become the A44. This application would entirely reverse the foregoing – reducing the number of HGVs on the A44 and increasing enormously the number of HGVs on the B4084. No improvements to this road are proposed. The B4084 cannot cope with this traffic.

Reduction in the value of your property. A local estate agent has advised that is likely to be a substantial reduction in the value of properties in the area surrounding this plant.
